CRICKET CONTROL MEASURES
To control crickets
- Set sticky glue traps along problem places like walls, windows etc. They are a great non-toxic way of catching crickets
- Bug sprays available in market can also help you get rid of crickets
- Vacuum your house properly because they may have laid eggs which could cause the infestation to rapidly get out of control.
- You can allow natural predators like lizards and spiders to thrive in your house, they will naturally keep a check on cricket population
- Use dim lighting around your house because bright lights can attract them and they can then easily enter your house
PRECAUTIONS TO PREVENT PEST INFESTATION
1. Know your pest
Before you know about the precautions to avoid pests firstly you need to know which insects are a not a pest for you but you feel them as a pest. The insects like honey bees, wasps, yellow bees, ants, lizards etc. are your friends. They are classified as friends a they are harmless to humans and help in controlling other pests harmful to humans by killing them or by eating them. They are only felt as pests by humans if they are found in large numbers around humans and humans feel that they are dangerous to their children. But the fact is that it is a myth that they are harmful for humans, if such is the scenario then the best method to find a solution for them is to relocate them rather than to kill them.
2. Keep your kitchen area clean
The pests like to thrive in dirty and damp areas with plenty of food, and kitchen is the best area they can find which fulfils all these requirements of the pests at the same time. So proper wiping and cleaning of shelves and regular brooming of the kitchen is a must to ensure that your house does not get a pest infestation.
3.Keep your bathroom area clean
After kitchens the bathroom turns out to be the most loved area by the pests. Pests like cockroaches, drain flies, mosquitoes etc. hide and propagate in bathrooms so it is advised to keep them clean.
4. Do not allow water stagnation
The pests like mosquitoes etc. breed in stagnant water. They are the agents which cause diseases like malaria, dengue etc. They can breed in stagnant water in the potholes, empty vessels, clogged sewer lines etc. so it is our duty to keep our surroundings free from the standing water and guard us and our family from the mosquitoes.
5. Dispose off garbage properly
The garbage including household wastes and the kitchen waste should be disposed off properly. It should not be littered in empty plots near your houses rather it should be put in municipality garbage boxes. This garbage if littered in the empty plots and other areas, becomes an excellent breeding ground for mosquitoes, rats, cockroaches etc. and hence are troublesome for the people living around.
6. Use nets on windows in houses
Another best way to protect your selves from flying pests is to install metallic nets on your windows which acts as a physical barrier and prevents the entry of flying pest in your homes.
7. Maintain your lawns
If you are passionate of keeping plants and have a lawn or a garden, then you should take its care properly and fill all unwanted holes or pits where water can stand, if you have a pond or a fountain then you need to check for water stagnation in it and ensure that it is cleaned on a regular basis so that unwanted pests like rats, mosquitoes, ants etc. can be avoided.
